GridGamesID – The change in the format of the annual Dota 2 competition has indeed been a topic of discussion for some time.

Apparently this is not just a rumor, today Valve officially confirmed this format change.

Through the official Dota 2 blog, the Regional Leagues system was officially introduced.

As the name implies, starting next year there will be competitions in a league format that take place in various regions.

The six regions that will host this league are Europe, North America, China, South America, Southeast Asia, and the CIS (Russia and Eastern Europe).

Each region will play two separate leagues, namely Upper (Tier 1) and Lower (Tier 2).

Teams can enter the two divisions through the Open Qualifier to be placed by Valve.

Like leagues in other sports, there will also be a promotion and relegation system.
