Step 1: Launch the app Security on your Redmi 6. This app is available directly on the Home Screen. choose App Lock by scrolling down.

Step 2: Here, the app will ask you to set an example first. This pattern can only be used to open App Lock. Once set, it will ask you to connect it with your Mi account. This is important because it can be used to reset if you forget your sample or your fingerprint sensor stops working.

Notes: The next steps can vary depending on two things. First, if your fingerprint is already registered. You can find advanced App lock related settings by tapping on the gear icon located at the top right corner. From there, you can:

  • Hide the sample you drew on the screen for pattern lock.
  • Hide Notification content for apps.
  • Change lock settings i.e. apps are locked only after device is locked or automatically after you exit, and after 1 minute exit.
  • Choose whether all locked apps are unlocked when you open one app.

MIUI also ensures that the content of locked apps is not visible during multitasking. This will ensure that no one can sneak into private conversations or data.
