How to create a password for a website folder with Htpasswd

The provision of additional security protection in the form of a login password in the folder or directory of our website is an obligation in order to avoid people who want to access it. Specifically for online storage of personal folders or website / forum admin login pages.

For protection in the form of user login and password, we can use the .htaccess and .htpasswd functions that we can use for web hosting. Here’s how:

1. Create a .htaccess file in the root folder, then enter the following command line:

# Protect admin login
AuthUserFile / home /inwepocom/public_html/.htpasswd
AuthType Basic
AuthName “login data”
Valid user required

2. Then create a .htpasswd file in the form of an encrypted user name and password
Example:
User: inwepo
pass: inwepo
Result of the htpasswd generator:

inwepo: $ apr1 $ QzJa1PQU $ ms2JH8 / PMJETz7ZEQnVgl1

For password encryption here

Description: Change username inwepocom marked in red with the name of the hosting user you are using and save the .htpasswd file according to the protection folder you created.

Done, good luck and good luck.
