Isekai currently it is a genre of anime that becomes a subscription every new season begins. Which a few years ago at least one title isekai every season, now usually there will be at least two series. With full market isekai, of course not every season we will get anime isekai the good one (read: interesting). For Spring Anime 2022 this, fortunately there are two isekai which I find quite interesting. One of those anime is Otome Gēmu no Hametsu Furagu Shika Nai Akuyaku Reijō ni Tensei Shiteshimatta (My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!) or commonly referred to as HameFura.
A little background on HameFura/Villainess
Otome Gēmu no Hametsu Furagu Shika Nai Akuyaku Reijō ni Tensei Shiteshimatta is an adaptation of the light novel of the same name, which was first serialized in July 2014 online, and written by Satoru Yamaguchi and illustrated by Nami Hidaka. In addition to the anime, the manga adaptation of the light novel has also been serialized since 2017 in the magazine Gekkan Comic Zero Sum, and published as much as 4 volumes, as well as a spin-off manga that began serialization in November 2022.
For the anime version, HameFura produced by Silverlink and directed by Keisuke Inoue. The soundtrack of this anime was done by 5 people, namely Natsumi Tabuchi, Hanae Nakamura, Tatsuhiko Saiki, Miki Sakurai, and Shu Kanematsu. For the opening entitled Shōjo no Route wa Hitotsu Janai! (There’s More Than Just One Route For a Girl!), sung by the band angela, while the ending song, entitled Bad End, sung by Shouta Aoi, who also voices Geordo Stuart in this anime.
A Very Different Isekai Story
HameFura/Villainess tells the story of a 17 year old high school otaku girl who is reborn as a noble’s daughter named Catarina Claes. At first he forgets about his old life until a minor accident restores his memory. Not only that, the return of the memory made him realize that the world he was in was a world within a otome game title Fortune Lovers. Unfortunately, he also realizes that he is not the main character of the game, but the antagonist who in the game is destined to suffer a terrible fate.
Armed with knowledge of otome game that he had played Catarina began to plan all the ways to avoid himself from bad ending destined for him. However, theory is not as easy as practice. The existing storyline is a destiny that will still happen. His encounters with other characters are inevitable and happen anyway, so how can he avoid an unpleasant ending?
As anime isekai, HameFura/Villainess is a breath of fresh air. The first factor that supports it is the trope reversal that usually puts the character isekai as a hero, this time as a fated villain. This main premise of course has its own plus point, seeing the obstacles that must be passed by Main Character in anime isekai this time it was something that didn’t threaten the world, but was still of equal magnitude.
The second thing I love about this anime is the reality Catarina does not have super powers or super tools, and only armed with knowledge of the game. One thing to point out is, the knowledge of the game itself didn’t really help him as he still couldn’t avoid meeting people he knew would trigger. death flag herself. However, with this knowledge, Catarina at least live a story that’s arguably a little different from what it should have been, by doing things he didn’t in Fortune Lovers. This, if in another narrative form, can be said to be the same as changing the past. With this, of course, the ending faced by Catarina, could be something that in-game could be called Perfect Ending.
So how Mobidachi? How many of you are following this anime? How many have read the novel or read the manga? What do you think of those who are new to this anime? Is it worth continuing to follow? Come on, leave your comments below.
