Comparison and Differences in Redmi 8 Vs Redmi 8A specifications, which one to choose?

The Xiaomi Redmi 8 and 8A are actually twins that physically can be said to be exactly the same, it’s just that there are some differences in terms of specifications.

Although twins, but the release date is different. Redmi 8A was “born” in September 2022, Redmi 8 followed in October 2022, although it came to Indonesia simultaneously on December 12, 2022.

What distinguishes it from the side design namely the finishing color of the backcover or the back casing. Redmi 8A has a gradient matte color and a wave texture, while the Redmi 8 has a finish with a smooth, glass-like texture.

In addition, Redmi 8 has fingerprint sensor on the back, dual camera and the flash at the top. While the Redmi 8A does not have a fingerprint sensor, a single camera and flash light are positioned under the old camera.

Another thing that sets it apart is IR Blaster features. Redmi 8A does not have an infrared port, so it cannot function as a remote like the Redmi 8.

Lastly, what makes the difference is RAM + ROM capacity. Redmi 8A (which officially entered Indonesia) currently only has a memory variant of 2GB+32GB, while the Redmi 8 has a memory variant of 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB.

Redmi 8 vs Redmi 8A Similarities

Apart from those mentioned above, all the specifications are more or less the same. Both phones use the same chipset, namely Qualcomm SDM439 Snapdragon 439 (12 nm), Up to 2.0 GHz; 8x ARM Cortex A53, Octa-core CPU.

But even though the chipset is the same, the display is definitely higher than the Redmi 8 because the RAM is bigger.

The mainboard of these two phones is also the same, it’s just that on the Redmi 8A there are some features that are omitted, such as the fingerprint connector, the second camera area that is replaced by a flash light area, and an infrared module that doesn’t exist.

The battery is also the same, both use a 5000mAh battery (typ) with the same version, namely BN51.
