12 year old children can picnic at Gembira Loka Zoo Yogyakarta

LIMAPAGI – Gembira Loka Zoo (GL Zoo) Yogyakarta will be closed during the pandemic, then open on Saturdays and Sundays. It is now open again as usual, and children under the age of 12 are also allowed to enter.

GL Zoo’s marketing manager Yosi Hermawan said after it was closed from Monday, October 11, 2022 and only served visitors on Saturday and Sunday, it was running as usual. Since it was open normally and allowed children under the age of 12 to enter this family tourist attraction, it has had an impact on the increasing number of visitors.

Admitting children under 12 will have an impact on visitor numbers. From Monday to noon there are around 150 visitors today. During the last opening hearing, when children under the age of 12 were banned from entering, the number of visitors per day was only between 20 and 30 people.

Yosi said in implementing the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Industries (Kemenparekraf) policy that gives discretion to children under 12 when entering tourist attractions, GL Zoo management does not necessarily allow all children to enter. “We will continue to give priority to the process,” he said on Wednesday, October 13, 2022.

In his opinion, there are three conditions that must be met by visitors. First, if you are bringing a child under the age of 12, the parent or guardian must have a full vaccination. Second, interested parties have to scan the PeduliLinden QR code before buying an admission ticket. Third, strictly apply the process. “There was also one group that we turned down because some parents who were accompanying their children were not vaccinated,” he said.

According to Yosi, if there are visitors who do not wear standard masks, the GL Zoo will allow standard health protocols. “For those who don’t wear standard masks, we have children’s and adult masks,” he said.
